Children’s Pastor at Trinity Baptist Church, FL
Psalm
37:23 –
The steps of a good
man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
People that know me
well know that I do not know much about cars, and I rarely like to
stay up late. So it might be surprising to know that in the early part
of 2008 I was working the night shift at an auto parts warehouse in
Central Ohio. Each night I would unpack, sort and put away hundreds of
auto parts that I knew nothing about. While it was a decent job, I
knew that God had something bigger for my life. It was during this
time that I felt God pushing me to take a step by attending Trinity
Baptist College.
In the spring of
2008, two of my best friends and I decided to take a road trip to
check out Trinity. It was during this week that God confirmed in my
heart that Trinity is where he wanted me to be. That fall I showed up
on campus, having little idea that in just a few short years I would
be working as the children’s pastor at Trinity Baptist Church.
One of the first
people I met at Trinity was Adam Christmas. Adam invited me to check
out the children’s ministry. Immediately I began serving in
SuperChurch and Kids Club. By my second year at Trinity, I was helping
lead in the children’s ministry.
When it came time
for me to graduate in the spring of 2011, God opened the door for me
to come and begin working as the Assistant Children’s Pastor at
Trinity with Paul Scott. For the past three years I have been able to
gain experience by overseeing our weekend kids worship services,
InZone and SuperChurch. I have also been able to be a part of an
awesome kids outreach called Fun Club.
Fun Club is an
after-school program that Trinity sponsors at Crystal Springs
Elementary, right down the road here in Jacksonville. Over the past
three years we have seen many kids follow Jesus as their Savior, as we
have been able to teach God’s Word to fourth and fifth grade students
every other week! This past school year we taught through the Fruit of
the Spirit and had twenty three students complete our memory challenge
by the end of Fun Club.
This spring, God
allowed me to take another step by becoming the children’s pastor at
Trinity. I am so thankful to get to work with some amazing volunteers
as we minister to awesome kids each week. We are currently looking
forward to a great summer with camp and our annual Bible club coming
up in the next couple months.
As I think back to
my time in the auto parts warehouse, I would have never dreamed that I
would be where I am today! I am so thankful for God’s leading, and I
can’t wait to see what He has in store for me next!
