Dear Friends of Trinity Baptist College:

Last week was the Student Summit, what most of you know as “Youth Conference.” Though the name has changed, the difference that it makes in students’ lives has not. Speaking as someone who attended as a teenager, it is so encouraging to see that Trinity is still impacting countless lives for the next generation of the church. It was also great to see some familiar alumni faces in the crowd. There is no greater compliment to us than you coming back to campus and bringing your youth. We hope that you will come back for 2014 and encourage more of your youth pastor/pastor friends to bring groups.

For those of you who live in the Jacksonville area, I hope that you will consider coming to some of the graduation events. Although graduation’s emphasis is on the graduates, it is an encouragement to them to have alumni come to support them.

I hope to see some of you next month!

Alumni Spotlight: William Lavender II  ('97)
- Major in the United States Army

As I write this, it is Easter Sunday, and this day ends a period known as the period of Lent. This period is recognized in the Liturgical churches as the period of sacrifice in honor of the sacrifices that Christ endured for us culminating with His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead three days later. It starts on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter Sunday. As Christ sacrificed for us, I am reminded of the cost of commitment to Him in the area of ministry.

Amahd Simon: 2013 Recipient of the Gibson Award

Amahd Simon was the winner of the Gibson Award for this year. This award was inaugurated this year as part of the spring banquet and we plan to make it an annual tradition.

The award is named in honor of Ed Gibson and is awarded to a student who possesses great Christian character and servant leadership on campus. It is not an academic award, neither is it based on popularity or charisma. Our hope is that this award will become one of the highest honors that we could give to a TBC student.

The winner has their name added to a perpetual plaque that hangs in the Activity Center. The TBC faculty nominates students to receive the award and votes to determine the final recipient.
