Campus Prayer Walk
Encouraging messages, in-depth spiritual
discussions, and a prayer walk are just a few ways the spiritual
temperature on campus can be measured this year. On September 3, more
than 20 students gathered for the first-ever prayer walk, an event
organized by sophomore Bradley Sutton.
For the prayer walk, students met at the Activity Center at 9:00 p.m.
and for 90 minutes walked around campus to various locations where
they stopped and prayed about whatever was on their hearts. They
prayed for specific needs, individuals, and for growth and revival
both personally and corporately.
TBC Junior Dee Wimes describes the time as very encouraging. “The
ninety minutes flew by and felt like it was only ten minutes. We
walked and prayed wherever the Lord led us, and I was excited to have
this opportunity.” Dee, who is a commuter student, plans to attend
prayer walks in the future.
“The turnout was great,” Sutton said, “and you could really feel the
spirit amongst us.” He hopes to have more prayer walks in the future
and is thankful for what God has allowed him to do.
Vinnie Cappetta ’95
- Pastor of Family Life at
Crossroads Community Church Framingham, MA
My
wife, Heather Pittman (93) Cappetta, and I moved to the Metro West
suburbs in 1999 to help plant a Baptist church in one of the largest
towns in the country, Framingham, MA. Despite a large population, the
area had only a few gospel-preaching churches. For seven years, I
received a well-rounded education in just about every church ministry
as I worked alongside a seasoned pastor. Eventually, the church
membership decreased as people moved out of the area to pursue jobs in
other parts of the country. At this time, the other pastor decided to
move to Ohio, and as hard as it was, we knew that God was bringing
this ministry to a close. God re-birthed the original vision by
leading us to merge with another local church, Crossroads Community
Church. I became the Pastor of Family Life with responsibilities
including pastoral counseling, small groups, and welcoming newcomers.
I also oversee our outreach and recovery ministries.

Upcoming
Alumni Gatherings
This year we started organizing
alumni gatherings in areas of the country where Pastor Tom Messer
travels. The last two for this year will be in Florida. On October 9th
there will be breakfast in New Port Richey. The last one is in Orlando
during the FACCS Convention. It will be dinner on October 18th. If you
live in the area, you should have received an email and a postcard.
The meals are complimentary with the Bronze Level Alumni Association
Membership ($15/year). If you are interested in attending either
gathering, and would like more information, please contact Jenny
Stanley at alumni@tbc.edu.
Trinity Baptist Church Hosts
School Spirit Sunday
On September 23, 2012 Trinity
Baptist Church hosted School Spirit Sunday. Leadership from 16 nearby
schools were in attendance. The neighborhood schools provided Trinity
with a list of volunteer needs and TBC students, as well as church
members, will be meeting some of those needs. Trinity Baptist College
students currently assist in Fun Club at Crystal Springs Elementary
for outreach and Christian service. They will now be able to expand
their influence. Trinity Baptist Church also reached out to local high
school seniors in need of community service hours. The seniors were
invited to volunteer at the Trinity Rescue Mission and Eureka Gardens
(an apartment complex where children’s programs are held).
